Mark Makers

In 2014 LogoTV and MTV Networks established the very first event to honor advocates of pride and progress in the LGBT community. This event and accompanying visual language would be a marked departure from the campy history of the network and as step toward a higher class brand positioning overall. The visual device we used for the event and promo campaign was a series of elevated and irreverent gestural marks.  These marks are poetic manifestation of the abstract grace and force of each honorees invisible actions. Like all paths to progress they are neither direct or neat.  They are energetic and unique embodiments of a complex journey. They represent the indelible path that has been blazed through culture by leaders past and present while pointing us all toward the progress that has yet to come.

Logo System

The logo consists of a word mark and a paint stroke. The word mark is always contained or revealed by the stroke. We create variety of composition and diversity of movement through the varying strokes we apply to posters, ads, and promotional spots.  We create a visual through line via color and texture and allow our logo shape to be a flexible storyteller for embodying the diversity and continuous forward progress of the LBGT movement.

Behaviors

The mark is our content delivery system for this campaign. It changes shape and form but remains consistent in color. The mark can take the form of typography or it can bring on typography. It acts as a image transition and mortise. It can cover up or reveal content depending upon the message.
